Pouring Spring PDF Print E-mail

One of our Zhineng Qigong techniques is to lead Qi from the lower Dantien (area between navel and Ming Men) along the legs to the feet further to the acupuncture point Yong Quan which is located on our foot sole and called „Pouring Spring“ in English.

Through this point we absorb fresh energy and lead it into our body as well as release used energy.

Isn´t it interesting that we call this part of the body „sole“ and how this word relates to „soul“ – coincidence? According to the foot reflexology the Yong Quan point lies exactly in the middle of the area „Mind“ - (Thoughts) and „Soul“ - (Feeling). While practicing Zhineng Qigong we wilfully use our mind to activate Qi in our feet and by this deeply rooting ourselves in the earth. As Doris Lessing says:

„By the way, what about walking: where shall we go to, if not inwards?“

So we root ourselves from the inside out. Standing firmly on the ground, we actually getting more mobile,  how can that be?

„If you stand with both feet on the ground, you can touch the sky.“  (Hans Kudszus). when we practice Zhineng Qigong we indeed follow this principle as well.

While we deeply root ourselves into the earth we at the same time open ourselves for absorbing healing energy of the universe. As we say: through our feet we release and absorb energy and through Bai Hui (highest point on our head) we open to the healing energy above us.

We also optimize our body posture while standing with both feet on the ground and balance our weight equally to both sides. Creating an imbalance has an impact from our heels, knees, hips along the spine to the head! When we practice Zhineng Qigong we train the principle „shifting“, and learn to be more in balance.

The Daoism says: A journey of 10.000 miles starts with a first step. And: The first step is simple and often difficult at the same time.

Haven´t we all made this experience yet: we have a great new idea, maybe for a new project, maybe a new business idea, or an idea for a new hobby. Maybe we would like to learn a new language or we would like to acquire a new area of knowledge. Maybe we would like to GO new paths, e.g. meeting new people. And sometimes months GO BY between our idea and the concrete implementation of it. Having taken the first step, we ask ourselves: why did I wait so long? (literally standing on both feet, not moving, pausing) noticing now that the steps after taking the first one are much easier and also fulfilling, enriching and inspiring.

Each journey consists of several, small steps and funny enough it seems that we never arrive!

“If you take a stand point for too long, you get worn heels!” Gustav Knuth

In this spirit: Whatever steps are next, enjoy the journey!
